Awards and Scholarships


Each year OAGCT provides a number of awards and scholarships.
The awards and scholarships are listed below with links to the application.

Please pay close attention to the due dates for each Scholarship or Award!


 Beverly Riggs Summer Camp Scholarship

​​The Beverly Riggs Summer Camp Scholarship was created in honor of Beverly Riggs, a longtime GT teacher in Tulsa and Stillwater.  It will reimburse your family up to $500 for summer camp attendance for your Oklahoma student who is identified as gifted and talented. The camp does not have to be in Oklahoma, but it must help the student grow in their identified gifted area (academic ability/acceleration, creativity, leadership, or visual/performing arts.)  Your GT teacher complete a recommendation form as part of the application.

Applications and Teacher Recommendations are due Friday, May 8, 2026. Award notice will be sent by June 12, 2026.  Reimbursements will be distributed starting September 1.  Application does not guarantee acceptance.

 The Outstanding Service Award

The Outstanding Service Award is presented in recognition of service to Oklahoma’s gifted and talented students. Anyone who is actively involved in gifted and talented education is eligible to receive this award. This includes parents, teachers, consultants, administrators, or others who are involved in a personal effort to help gifted and talented students in Oklahoma. Anyone may make a nomination for the award. Please feel to nominate any qualified person who has not previously been selected. The nomination window will open in late Spring 2026.

 The Advocacy Award

The Advocacy Award is presented in recognition of public support for Oklahoma’s gifted and talented

 students to the Legislature, colleges and universities, local school districts, and/or the Oklahoma State Board of Regents. Anyone who is actively involved in a personal effort to improve gifted and talented education is eligible to receive this award. Anyone may submit a nomination for this award.

 The OAGCT Cheryl Kennedy Award​

The OAGCT Cheryl Kennedy Award is a one-time $500 grant awarded to educators for financing a research project or completing training that is specific to gifted and talented education and/or GT learners.

 GO Foundation Education Scholarship

The Gifted Oklahomans (GO) Foundation offers a scholarship for teachers of gifted students to pursue college course ​​work or a master’s or doctorate degree in the field of gifted education. The scholarship is awarded with several provisions. Teachers must complete the course work with the grade equivalent of a "B" or above. Additionally, the recipient is willing to submit a syllabus and transcript and turn in a copy of the grade or a letter from the professor with a grade. Finally, to be awarded a scholarship, the applicant must be working or planning to work in an Oklahoma school in gifted education and is willing to present at the OAGCT spring state convention with other scholarship recipients. Scholarship money will be awarded in a timely manner upon the successful completion and verification of the course work. Applications are accepted through the second week of the semester for which you are applying for a scholarship. Email completed applications (linked here) to vanemli@tulsaschools.org.
